Bringing Back the Brass

Back in October I shared my chandelier makeover checklist for this antique chandelier I purchased at the auction house for only $10. My father in law picked it up at Thanksgiving and had its arm reattached by his friend and then he rewired all 12 arms. Believe me, this was no easy task and I'm so thankful for his help! The light was returned to me about 6 weeks ago so I thought I better start working on my part of it soon. He might visit this summer and I'd like him to see it hanging in all its glory in our master bedroom. So this is my project today: strip all the silver and pink paint off of the chandy to reveal its beautiful, original brass finish. (While applying stripper I found a spot marked, "Made in Spain". Cool, huh?

My favorite part of this makeover will be to hang all the crystals on at the end. I can't wait!  For some pretty chandelier inspiration I pinned a few pictures on my Lights I Love board on Pintrest.

Away with old Romance! Away with novels, plots and plays of foreign courts; Away with love-verses, sugar'd in rhyme, the intrigues, amours of idlers; fitted for only banquets of the night where dancers to late music slide; The unhealthy pleasures, extravagant dissipations of the few, with perfumes, heat and wine, beneath dazzling chandeliers.

John Keats
 (1795-1821)

What's on your to do list today?
And, what's up with Keats? His quote makes him seem like a bit of a downer.
