My Very Own Red, White, and Blue
RED: Red raspberries growing in my backyard---They remind me of my grandparents, Gladys and Leon, who grew them in their backyard in Racine. My grandma used them to make the most wonderful jam and raspberry pie deluxe. I promise to share her recipe soon.

WHITE: My latest project---I could never be bored at home because I always have a project in the works. This week I am painting a $5 mirror with ornate gesso white for the wall opposite of my bed. It's still in process between 90 degree temperatures and thunderstorms.

BLUE: The blue eyes of my son Sam---This week he will turn 18; I spent the first 2 years of his life praying I would be able to watch him grow up. He was born with a rare and severe congenital heart defect that required 3 heart surgeries by the age of 2. He still struggles with health issues but he is an inspiration to me and every birthday we have with him is extra special.

Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.

What's your personal red, white and blue for this point in your life?

Your son is so adorable! He kind of makes the other things less interesting, but the picture of the raspberries would be lovely on its own....
