Vintage Finds--Animal, Vegetable, Mineral

Animal, Vegetable, Mineral are the categories for the old parlor game, Twenty Questions and they are exactly what I found hunting for treasures this weekend. I promise I won't make you play the game; I'll just show you my purchases.

ANIMALS:
1. An elephant cutting board--I've seen pigs and rectangles and squares but never an elephant.

2. Antique animal cookie cutters--I love the patina and the handles. They are perfect for putting in an old ironstone bowl on your kitchen counter or to use to actually make cookies.

VEGETABLES and MINERALS: I might have possibly exaggerated that I found animals, vegetables AND minerals but I came close. I found a whole bunch of stone fruit for $5. Fruit is really close to a vegetable and rocks contain minerals so I'm sure you'll let me get away with this one for the sake of making this post somewhat interesting.

Remember I told you about my budding collection of stone fruit here? I am so excited to be able to add to it inexpensively. I found the fruit in a bowl on a dusty shelf at a garage sale and wasn't even sure if it was for sale. These are the first oranges of my collection. Notice how the one was made to look like it was going bad.
I love the purple grapes, too!

Down South, even our vegetables have some pig hidden somewhere in it. A vegetable isn't a vegetable without a little ham hock.
