Christmas in July--Mason Jar Winter Wonderland
Welcome to Christmas in July here at Upscale Downhome. I'm showcasing Holiday projects to hopefully inspire you to make some handmade projects for this upcoming Holiday season. Don't worry if you're not a DIYer, you can be DIBuyer and purchase all the items shown this week in my Etsy shop. Be sure to contact me before purchasing for a discount just for reading my blog.
Today's project:

This project was inspired by the Mason Jar Snow Globes found at Anthropologie.

I started with antique, blue Ball Perfect Mason jars that I picked up for a song last month at a garage sale. I added some coarse Martha Stewart glitter to the lid and top of the jar to create the "wonderland effect".
TIP: I used a spray adhesive glue and it worked really well for the glitter.

Of course no project of mine would be complete without a little bling so I added a piece of vintage jewelry to the top of each jar.
TIP: I used E6000 Craft Glue for this step.

I used different types of small figurines for the inside of the jar. Originally they were colorful and I spray painted them a flat white finish to unify their look. I used a tongs to place them in the jar and E6000 Craft Glue to hold them in place. Since each figurine is different, each jar is unique.
TIP: Make sure the figurine is facing the opposite way of the writing on the jar so you are able to see it more clearly.

Next, I added a bit of fake snow to finish the winter wonderland effect.
TIP: Use a chopstick to spread the fake snow around evenly.

For the finishing touch, I will be including a vintage Christmas card from the early 1900s with each of the Winter Wonderland jars purchased in my shop.
TIP: The postcard could be displayed with the jar or be used as a gift tag for gift giving.

The color of springtime is in the flowers; the color of winter is in the imagination.
